Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Major in Cinematic Arts
Minimum required: 120 semester credit hours
Admission Requirements
- The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) major in Cinematic Arts requires admission to the university and admission to the program.
- Admission to the Major will be based on the following criteria:

- Overall GPA of 2.75
- "B" or better in TH1353 Film Production Practices, TH1320 Filmmakers History of Film and TH1369 Intro to Dramatic Writing.
- A portfolio of one video work created by the applicant. This can be one film or video or it can be a reel of featured work not to exceed 8 minutes in length. Feel free to use work produced in Film Production Practices.
General Requirements
- The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) major in Cinematic Arts requires admission to the university and admission to the program.
- The general education core curriculum courses are listed in the degree plan below along with the statewide component code number. See the General Education Core Curriculum section of this catalog for the Texas State requirements and options in the core curriculum, including Honors courses.
- A minimum of 36 advanced hours are required.
- All Theatre students are encouraged to participate in theatre production activities each semester.
- Students in the program are always on probation; their work and progress are formally evaluated by faculty annually. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
