The McCoy College of Business Department of Accounting is dedicated to preparing our diverse student population to make a positive impact on society and to achieve professional success in a rapidly changing, data-driven business environment.
The Master of Accountancy (MAcy) degree is designed to prepare students to pursue careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, government, and other business environments. The program focuses on developing in-demand accounting expertise and business acumen, with strong recruitment support leading to high placement rates. The program, which is typically completed in 12-18 months, provides specialized courses in the areas of taxation, auditing, and financial reporting. The curriculum also offers the opportunity to take up to six credit-hours of CPA exam review courses and complete a six-credit-hour internship. The MAcy program can be used to satisfy the 150-hour education requirement for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in Texas under the educational pathway. While an undergraduate degree in accounting is not required, applicants must complete pre-requisite accounting coursework before enrolling.
The Master of Science major in Accounting and Information Technology (MSAIT) is a STEM-designated accounting program designed to prepare students for careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, government, and other business environments. The program focuses on developing in-demand accounting expertise and business acumen, with strong recruitment support leading to high placement rates. The program, which is typically completed in 12-18 months, develops accounting and information technology competencies needed to respond to the evolving demands being placed on accountants and information technology professionals in modern organizations. The curriculum also offers the opportunity to take up to six credit-hours of CPA exam review courses and complete a six-credit-hour internship.
